Roseanne Barr and Michael Fishman spent years working together on the sitcom Roseanne, even reuniting in 2018 when the series came back for a revival. However, within a year, the show was cancelled, being retooled into The Conners. Last month, Fishman weighed in on the revival’s brief run, which has since garnered a response from his former onscreen mother.
Roseanne Barr Addressed Michael Fishman’s Comments During A Recent Podcast Appearance
Barr and Fishman famously worked together on the former’s namesake sitcom, Roseanne, which originally ran from 1988 to 1997. On the long-running show, the two played mother and son, Roseanne and D.J. Conner, for nearly a decade.
The series was revived in 2018 with a 10th season, which saw the original cast returning. Following a successful premiere, the revival was renewed for an 11th season. However, ABC reversed its decision and cancelled the program that same year after Barr came under fire for comparing former Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett to Planet of the Apes on social media.
A spin-off, The Conners, was then launched without Barr, with her character ultimately killed off. Fishman appeared on the spin-off for the first four seasons, with the show coming to an end in 2025.
Last month, Fishman took to Instagram to share in a video that the revival was “rightfully cancelled” over Barr’s 2018 tweet. At the time, he expressed that he still loved her and noted that even good people make mistakes.
Since then, Barr has appeared on the Can’t Be Censored podcast. After Fishman’s comments were brought up, she shared a few choice words concerning her former co-star.
Barr dubbed Fishman a “bigot,” an “ignoramus,” and a “little f****** worm.” She continued, telling him to “go and f*** yourself and stay f***ed till the day you die.”

The actress also expressed that Fishman has “no f***ing idea” what she was talking about in the context of her original post. She also accused him of having “no geopolitical context whatsoever.”
In addition, Barr also claimed that she was the one who fought for him to appear in the 2018 Roseanne revival. According to her, she claimed producers wanted to get rid of him.
Barr isn’t the only person to speak out against Fishman following the video. The actress’ real-life son, Jake Pentland, reportedly told TMZ, in light of the comments, “I wish him good luck in finding work one day. Hopefully selling the woman responsible for his career out was worth it for him.”
