We love moving and grooving on a Saturday night!
On this third Saturday of September, we’re commemorating National Dance Day. The annual celebration “encourages Americans of all ages to incorporate dance into their lives” and “aims to educate the public about dance and its many benefits, as well as make dance accessible and inclusive to everyone,” according toAmerican Dance Movement.
Indeed, dance can be joyful, liberating, and most importantly, fun for professionals and amateurs alike. Ina recent Reddit threadabout dancing at gay bars, Redditors shared their tips on how to best bust a move.
One encouraging poster advised others to “just step out on to the dance floor and start shaking your groove thing.”

Another user provided some helpful steps: “Step 1: Get your booty on the dance floor. Step 2: Look at someone dancing. Step 3: Copy their movement for about 15-30 seconds. Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 with another dancer you see until the song is over or until you need a break. Step 5: Take a break and hydrate. Step 6: Go back to step 1 until you drop. Boom. You just danced the night away.”
Somebody else said it’s best to just “go with the vibe.”
If you need a little social media inspo, gay dancers are showing off their moves all year long. Some of the #gaydancer hashtaggers dance for a living, some do it just for fun, but all of them make us wanna shake a leg.
