A Messy Breakup
In 2020, football player Aaron Rodgers and actress Shailene Woodley started dating. The pair seemed happy enough, and by 2021 they were engaged to be married. However, the wedding would never come. Instead, they announced their breakup in 2022. At the time, it was said that they tried several times to make it work, but it just wasn’t happening. Since then, Shailene has stayed pretty quiet about it, not airing out too many details.
Now, Aaron Rodgers has decided to reveal his side of what really happened. According toYahoo!,he says that when he proposed, she said yes. However, just a couple of days later, she tried to sleep with someone else.
“I proposed to Shailene, and she said yes. Now, she maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision. She could have said no,” the football player says. “A couple days after that she tells me, ‘Before we get married, I gotta go f*ck this guy.’”
According to Aaron, he claims Shailene blames him for giving her depression. But he says that’s not the case at all.
“Her story is that I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her,” he says. “But in actuality, she told me that and then she took off the ring by March—I proposed in December—and we had a couple of times where we tried to [reunite], and nothing ever happened.”

This weekend was the Emmys, so naturally, Shailene was at a pre-Emmys fundraiser party in LA. While there, she was asked about the comments made by her ex-fiancé. It seems like she truly isn’t holding any space for him. Instead of giving an answer, she chose to simply laugh and walk away from the situation.
While she didn’t blatantly deny the claims, it seems like she isn’t even going to entertain them, let alone give anyone any explanation for what Aaron has said about her.
Of course, at this point, there’s no way of knowing what really went down between the once happy couple. However, it seems Shailene is living her best life as she actually won her first-ever Emmy at the show this weekend.
