Rebecca Jarvis Recently Filled In For Robin Roberts On Good Morning America
Roberts is a newscaster who previously became known to many working as a sportscaster for ESPN. She spent 15 years working for the network, leaving in 2005.
Starting in 1995, Roberts also began working as a featured reporter for Good Morning America. In 2005, she was promoted to co-anchor for the morning show.
Recently, Roberts changed up her schedule and was not present during the network’s September 11 coverage. In her place, Michael Strahan and George Stephanopoulos were joined by fill-in anchor Rebecca Jarvis. In addition, Whit Johnson, who was recently announced as an official weekend anchor, joined the team live from the World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan.
Roberts Interviewed One Of The Last Survivors Of The Attacks Against The World Trade Center During The Network’s Coverage
Instead, Roberts was on schedule to host ABC’s special coverage Friday night as she covered the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. She appeared with veteran anchors David Muir and Diane Sawyer, hosting 9/11 Tribute in Light: Live from Lower Manhattan. However, Roberts is expected to return to her regular role on Good Morning America the following week.
On ABC News’ Instagram account, a few clips were shared promoting Roberts’ recent special coverage. At the time, it was shared, “Hope you’ll join us this evening at 8 PM EST on @abc for our special ‘9/11 Tribute In Light’ as we mark 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.”
In another post, Roberts spoke with Genelle Guzman-McMillan, “the last survivor pulled from the rubble of the World Trade Center.” During the moment, she recounted “the moments she spent trapped beneath the debris — and how she continued living afterwards.”
Meanwhile, as previously reported, viewers recently saw ABC News announce an overhaul concerning the Saturday and Sunday morning lineups. Rachel Scott will join Whit in the anchor chair on Saturdays. Gio Benitez will team up with Rhiannon Ally during the Sunday broadcast. Leslie Lopez also joins both days as a weekend meteorologist. Meanwhile, this also comes out as Janai Norman was dropped by Good Morning America back in April after four years with the program.
