ICYMI: It’s “Locktober,” a month fully devoted to locking in, at least according to a hilarious TikTok mom.
Of course, that was hardly the craziest story in LGBTQ+ news, from the return of ButtTootKing, to Tom Daley getting all dolled up, and a Grindr convo that went surprisingly well.
Plus, we reminisced on the ’90s, saw ourselves in these “frenemies,” and learned too much about the NHL’s forced Heated Rivalry fantasy.
On top of that, we’ve stayed fixated on books, boys, and drag brunch.

Below, check out the 10 things we’re obsessed with this week.
1. Showbiz!: My Life as a Middle-Aged Man by Murray Hill
Somebody Somewhere star and comedian Murray Hill’s debut memoir, Showbiz!: My Life as a Middle-Aged Man (available for $30 on Amazon) is just as honest, hilarious, and spirited as you’d expect. In its pages, Hill documents his journey growing up in a conservative household, his first love in old-school comedy, and carving out a niche in pop-culture. There are laugh-out-loud jokes, inspiring stories, and a lot of camp, naturally.

2. Joggers for Grey Sweatpants Season

Forget the PSLs and Halloween, my favorite part of fall is the official start of primetime print-catching, better known as Grey Sweatpants Season. Of course, the best way to celebrate is by snagging a pair of your own, like Dark Yarn’s Gay Men Sport Joggers, available in multiple colors for $56 on LGBTQ Outpost.
The queer-owned brand, founded by Jake Guy, operates under the belief that what you wear carries meaning. Their snug, supportive, and muted designs are rooted in the powers of identity and self-expression, which basically guarantees they’re going to fit just right.
3. Michael Johnston’s arms
Michael Johnston donned some guyliner, got dirtied up, and flashed his arms for a new photo spread, and suddenly, I’m relating to that girl from Obsession on a spiritual level.
4. Sniffs of Adventure’s Ghost Tour Candle

Every autumn, all the love unfairly goes to pumpkin, apple, and cinnamon. That’s why I’m absolutely obsessed with Sniffs of Adventure’s sugary sweet Ghost Tour Candle, available for $24 online.
The Provincetown-based gay-candle connoisseurs have crafted the perfect confectionary-inspired scent, combining candy corn, caramel, and buttercream. Bonus: The candle was inspired by P-Town’s Halloween festivities, which is a pretty convincing reason to book a Spooky Bear trip stat.
5. An adorable brain freeze

I haven’t seen someone flub an answer to a question this hard since 2007’s Miss Teen USA South Carolina. That said, this stranger, who got roped into a man-on-the-street interview, is both gay and cute, so he gets a pass. TBH, I have seen worse flirting.
6. Troye Sivan‘s She’s the Best swag

Troye Sivan dropped a new album, and it’s all I will be discussing for the next 7-10 business days. Of course, as a gay man with disposable income, my natural instinct was to stock up on She’s the Best swag after my first listen. Thankfully, our twink pop prince has tons of options for those yearning to express their musical-taste supremacy, like the Party Tee ($45), She’s the Best Black Hoodie ($80), a branded Metal Case ($15), and even a Sex Star Keychain ($10).
7. Nicole Kidman, but make it a mouse
Who are we to judge this rogue movie-theater mouse who, much like queen Nicole Kidman, came to this place for magic and inadvertently posed for the most cinematic rodent photo ever?! Sorry, Stuart Little, but there’s a new star in town.
8. Miranda Lambert’s love for drag brunch
As a gay man who’s heard folk tales around country singer Miranda Lambert’s love for Julius’, a.k.a. New York City’s oldest gay bar, I was absolutely charmed by her recent Rolling Stone interview, in which she dubbed drag brunches the most “joyful place on Earth.” As she explained, it’s just “mimosas and people being their full selves and no holds barred.” I will be streaming this ally queen’s new album Crisco in appreciation.
9. Scream 30th anniversary

Please check on the horror gays in your life, because Wes Craven’s iconic slasher satire, Scream, is turning 30.
Accordingly, Ghostface is commemorating the anniversary with a must-have collector’s set ($109.99 on Amazon) featuring the film on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, and digital, as well as collectible polaroids, case files, and a replica of the infamous cordless phone. Unfortunately, Drew Barrymore’s c*nty bob wig is not included.
10. Rosie on Rocky Horror
If you have time to see the absolutely pleasurable Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show, don’t miss it. Better yet, if you have a chance to catch Rosie O’Donnell as the Narrator during her run through October 18, run!
At the October 8 performance, I witnessed the comedy icon receive a standing ovation nothing short of “gay rights,” and fully realized the mega-queer dream I never knew I had of hearing the “Time Warp” dance instructions in her unmistakable timbre.
