Deborah Roberts Talks Finding Relief, Credits Dolly Parton For Inspiration

In a recent share, Roberts took to Instagram complete with a picture of her being athletic. She could be seen going for a jog, complete in athletic wear, including a pink top, burgundy shorts, and pink-tipped sneakers.

Roberts shared that this gives her some relief from everyday stress. She shared, “Shaking off the stress of the week!” The journalist asked followers, “How do you decompress?”

During the post, she also admitted that she had a special inspiration. As she wrote, “Thanks for the inspiration, Dolly.” This was in reference to the late country icon Dolly Parton and her own exercise routine: “rejoicing exercises.”

As noted by Time, Parton felt that movement didn’t need to feel like a punishment. She favored a freewheeling combination of gospel music, singing, dancing, stretching, shouting, and praising. As she once joked, “I do more ‘rejoicing’ than I do ‘working out,’” even though she reportedly made sure to add a few floor exercises and squats to this routine.

Many figures in the media have been paying tribute to Parton and sharing their love since the star tragically passed away earlier this week. The country star was 80 years old at the time of her passing on August 25, 2026.

Roberts also shared a few photos of her jogging on her Instagram Stories. In addition, she highlighted Achilles International, an organization that encourages people with disabilities to participate in athletics.

Taking to social media, many fans agreed with the sentiment and shared their own ways of adding their own fun touches to their exercise routines. Roberts herself could also be seen throughout the comments, sharing words of approval towards the various pieces of advice. A few also shared compliments for Roberts’ own routine. Some comments included:

  • “Walking and playing with my 3 standard poodles and watching golf.”
  • “I ran a 5k race this morning in the heat and humidity that got a drizzle of rain.”
  • “I walk 2-4 miles and meditate and pray while walking. Good de-stresser.”
  • “Going to the gym and or walking my dog. However, I have to watch 20/20 first thing Saturday mornings.”
  • “Love this! I was going to say the same thing…watching “20/20!” Haha! Love the little community we can have on here! Definitely a walk outside, a good rom-com or some shopping!”
