Olivia Rodrigo Readies First Christmas Single – SPIN

Olivia Rodrigo is adding a little seasonal cheer to her catalog. The artist will release her debut holiday single, “take me home (4 christmas),” on Thursday (Nov. 5) at 5pm PT via Interscope, accompanied by an official music video starring Rodrigo alongside Sex and the City’s Cynthia Nixon and Saturday Night Live’s Ben Marshall.

Rodrigo co-wrote the original song with longtime collaborators Dan Nigro and Amy Allen, with Nigro also handling production. The release will be available on streaming services and as a limited physical offering, with exclusive seven-inch vinyl and cassette editions available for preorder at Rodrigo’s website. The seven-inch will also be sold through Target and arrive in stores on Friday.

“take me home (4 christmas)” will surely be more polished than “The Bels,” a Christmas song Rodrigo wrote when she was five years old and then shared with fans as a holiday surprise via her online newsletter back in 2022.

The nww Christmas tune follows October’s “expectations” remix featuring Chappell Roan, which rocketed 63-3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in its first week and features a video co-starring David Byrne. The remix also helped send Rodrigo’s third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Rodrigo is currently on her sold-out Unraveled tour, which has moved more than 1 million tickets worldwide. For her Oct. 30 Halloween show in Columbus, Oh., the musician showed off multiple costumes, including a zombie version of Marie Antoinette and a honeybee.
