Kelly Clarkson recently had a story to share with fans. At the time, she weighed in on how she felt she was treated at a New York store. Since then, the store at the heart of the story has shared its own side of the story.
Kelly Clarkson Shared A Story She Felt Came Straight Out Of Pretty Woman
Clarkson first became known to audiences while appearing on the first season of the competition reality series, American Idol. She would prove to be the season’s winner, ultimately going on to pursue a successful career in music.
Following this, Clarkson has established herself as a media personality. She has served as a coach on The Voice and and the host of her own syndicated talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Recently, Clarkson made headlines on X after sharing a story in which a Brooklyn store snubbed her. Comparing the story to a famous scene in Pretty Woman, she wrote, “Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me.
Clarkson continued, “Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale. But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman. For sure, check it out.”

The Story Later Shared Their Side Of The Story On Instagram
Since then, however, the Brooklyn-based store has issued an indirect response to the story. Taking to their Instagram Stories, the store shared images complete with positive reviews from other customers.
Following this, the Clarkson story was addressed in another post. They shared, “Yesterday, Kelly Clarkson visited us in Brooklyn and inquired about buying ‘Molly,’ a one-of-a-kind singing and dancing bird automaton who plays an important role in the magic shows we host here. Molly is permanently attached to the wall and isn’t for sale. However, the negative experience Kelly described on [X] would resonate with anyone who has ever felt judged in a shop.”

While sharing that many customers stay for hours to enjoy their toys and puzzles, the statement continued: “Imagine our surprise when our small local business was suddenly attacked by 8 million people who have never visited our store. It’s been a surreal experience to be the focus of such widespread outrage after just one mention by a celebrity.”
As the post came to a conclusion, the store expressed hope that the situation with Clarkson could be resolved. It continued, “We’re going to keep our heads down and hopefully, we can clear things up with Kelly someday. As a talented popular singer once said, ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.’”
