A24’s Friday the 13th prequel series “Crystal Lake” is coming to Peacock here in the United States this October, but in an interesting twist, it’s coming to HBO Max outside the U.S.
The Hollywood Reporter lets us know that Warner Bros. Discovery has picked up “Crystal Lake” for HBO Max in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, excluding the U.K. and Ireland.
“The series is set to debut on HBO Max across the region later this year,” THR notes.
Here in the United States, “Crystal Lake” slashes into Peacock on October 15. We know that ALL EIGHT EPISODES of “Crystal Lake” will release at the same time on that date.
Each episode has a runtime of 60 minutes.
The series follows single mother Pam Voorhees who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the townlakealmost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion, leaving the townspeople ofCrystalLakewondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?
Linda Cardellinistars as Pamela Voorhees, a mother who gave up a singing career to raise her special needs child, only to take a dark turn when she loses her son — Jason.
Callum Vinson(“Chucky”) is playing young Jason in “Crystal Lake,” which will tell the origin story of the masked slasher who has stalked the grounds of Crystal Lake for decades.
Brad Caleb Kane(“IT: Welcome to Derry”) is the showrunner for the series.
The eight-episode series “Crystal Lake” is directed byMichael Lennox(“Derry Girls”),Celine Held&Logan George(Caddo Lake), andQuyen Tran(“The Pitt”).
