Dylan Dreyer Recently Reported Live From Southeast Alaska On Today‘s Third Hour
Dreyer officially joined Today in 2012, making her debut as Weekend Today‘s weather anchor. Over the years, viewers have seen her as a general fill-in anchor and a co-host of the third hour.
Recently, an assignment even took Dreyer away from Studio 1A in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza. She recently reported live from Ketchikan, Alaska.
During the show’s third hour, Dreyer shared, “It is so easy to understand why it is ideal to travel to Alaska this time of year… More than 500 humpback whales visit Southeast Alaska every summer, and there’s nothing quite like seeing these incredible animals in the wild. We headed out on the water to experience them firsthand, and to learn how the cruise industry is protecting these whales through marine conservation efforts.”
This was followed by a video package about Dreyer’s Alaska trip, which included a scenic whale-watching trip. Dreyer mused, That was all our footage. That was the whale we were kind of spotting for hours at a time. And once we were done, the whale swam away with us. So, it was like it was meant to be.”

However, Dreyer had more to share with fans on social media. Taking to Instagram, she included a carousel post of the trip, including a special video at the end. After a series of photos of Dreyer seeing the sights in the 49th state, she ended the post with a video of a whale.
As Dreyer wrote in a caption, “What an absolutely magical experience in Ketchikan, Alaska. When work friends are your actual friends, it makes it that much more special! I learned so much about humpback whales and the research by @team_orca_ in conjunction with @msccruisesofficial is so important in keeping them safe. Hope you caught my spot on @todayshow this morning! Thanks for trusting me with this story!!”
