Kim Kardashian may not be an official lawyer, but she found herself in legal trouble after making a now-deleted post online. However, the story has taken an interesting turn. Keep reading to find out what she posted and why she is now owed $167k.
Kim Kardashian Makes A Mistake
Kim Kardashian is very passionate about helping wrongfully accused prisoners and prison reform. She seems to genuinely want to help everyone and follow in her father’s footsteps by becoming a lawyer. While Kim started law school in 2018, she hasn’t been able to pass the bar exam. Her last attempt was in 2025, and now she’s taking a break before she retakes it as early as 2027. However, that doesn’t stop her from pursuing her passion. She is still fighting for justice by using her platform.
Apparently, she made a post about a man she wanted to be removed from death row. His name is Ivan Cantu. However, she accidentally posted the photo of the wrong man. Instead of posting an inmate, she just shared a photo of a random guy with the same name.
Despite immediately deleting the post, the not-prison Ivan was extremely upset by this and decided it would be best to take legal action againstThe Kardashians star. However, unfortunately, that didn’t play out well for him.
Owing Kim Money
As mentioned above, the regular non-prisoner Ivan ended up taking legal action against Kim Kardashian. However, the court did not side with him, TMZ reports. Instead, they sided with Kim, who said that this was an accident, noting that she immediately took the post down when she realized her mistake. Because they chose her side, Ivan had to pay Kim’s legal fees. However, that total comes to $167k. Of course, this had Ivan panicking, as that is a very large sum of money for a not-reality TV star.
Lucky for him, Kim seems to be pretty forgiving and ended up forgiving him of his giant debt to her.
“This is a lawsuit that should never have been filed. The Court agreed and threw it out and ordered that [Ivan Cantu] pay Kim’s legal fees. Kim agreed to waive those fees and so [Ivan] has dismissed his case with prejudice,” a legal rep reports.
Unfortunately for Ivan, this doesn’t seem to have worked out quite how he intended. But at least he doesn’t have to pay someone who has millions of dollars a six-figure amount.
