Tame Impala Welcomes Dua Lipa In London – SPIN

The Tame Impala / Dua Lipa cinematic universe continues to expand. During the Kevin Parker-led band’s show last night (May 7) at the O2 in London, itsurprised the crowd by bringing Lipa out for a two-song mini-set that further cemented their unexpectedly fruitful collaboration.

Lipa emerged midway through “Afterthought,” a standout from Tame Impala’s 2025 album Deadbeat, before she and Tame Impala pivoted into “Houdini,” the sleek disco-pop centerpiece of Lipa’s Radical Optimism — the 2024 album Parker co-produced and co-wrote.

The onstage reunion is the latest chapter in an increasingly ongoing musical partnership between the two artists. It began at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival when Lipa brought Parker out during her headlining set for a performance of Tame Impala’s “The Less I Know the Better” before he returned to play guitar on “Houdini.” At the time, Lipa called Parker “someone who I deeply admire musically” and joked, “Tonight, I get to pretend that I’m in Tame Impala.”

The favor was returned again Lipa’s Sydney concert in March 2025 at Qudos Bank Arena, where Parker joined her mid-set for another rendition of “The Less I Know the Better.” “I get to sing one of my favorite songs ever with one of my favorite artists,” Lipa told the crowd.

Tame Impala is winding down a spring European tour this month before kicking off a hugeNorth American runJuly 6-7 in Miami. Last week, the group was joined by French electronic duo Justice in Paris to perform their Grammy-winning collaboration “Neverender.”
