Gwyneth Paltrow Holds Hands With Dakota Johnson in Sweet Snapshot

Gwyneth Paltrow is here to make friends—with her ex-husband’s partner.

While responding to questions during an AMA session on her Instagram Story Wednesday, the 51-year-old Goop founder showed off the receipts to prove that she’s pals with ex-husband Chris Martin’s girlfriend, Dakota Johnson. She shared a photo of herself and Johnson holding hands, wearing jeans, big parkas, and beanies, in response to the prompt “photo with dakota.” The proof is in the Insta-pudding, as the case may be.

Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Martin divorced—sorry, consciously uncoupled—after over a decade of marriage, finalizing their split in April 2015. They have two children together, Apple and Moses, and have remained friendly, celebrating occasions like birthdays together. In 2021, Paltrow described Martin as “like a brother.”

Paltrow remarried in 2018, to writer and producer Brad Falchuk, and Martin has been linked to 50 Shades of Grey star Johnson since 2017. They have something of a blended family, with everyone hanging out.

In 2020, Paltrow told Harper’s Bazaar of Johnson, “I love her. I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her. I always start to think of the ampersand sign—what else can you bring in, instead of being resistant to or being made insecure by? There’s so much juice in leaning in to something like that.”

Just last month, Paltrow said she and Johnson are “actually very good friends…I love her so much” in response to a fan question in another Instagram Q&A. “She’s an adorable, wonderful person.”
