Britney Spears Is Engaged to Sam Asghari

The pop star showed off her ring on Instagram, writing, “I can’t fucking believe it.”

Just a little over a week after Sam Asghari was spotted ring shopping at Cartier, he and Britney Spears are now officially engaged.

The pop star casually announced the big news on Instagram on Sunday night, posting a video of herself showing off her engagement ring in various poses alongside Asghari before planting a kiss on his cheek. “I can’t fucking believe it!!!!!!,” she wrote in the caption followed by a string of ring emojis.

Spears’s manager confirmed the big news to Us Weekly, revealing that the personal trainer turned actor popped the question at Spears’s home over the weekend. “The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them,” they said. The designer of the ring Roman Malayev, also told the outlet that he “couldn’t be more happier to be involved and make this a one of kind ring.”

The happy couple first met on the set of Spears’s “Slumber Party” music video in October 2016, where they exchanged phone numbers. On New Year’s Day 2017, they made their relationship Instagram official. Both have previously expressed their desire to settle down and start a family together. In an interview with Forbes in March, Asghari said, “My priorities in life are to remain humble and understand where I came from and where I’m going. I want to take my career to the next step when it comes to acting. I want to take my relationship to the next step, as well. I don’t mind becoming a father. I want to be a young dad.”

Spears also shared that sentiment during her moving testimony at her conservatorship hearing in June, claiming, “I have an IUD inside of myself right now so I don’t get pregnant. I wanted to take the IUD out so I could start trying to have another baby. But this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have any more children.” She went on to tell the court, “I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby.” But with her father, Jamie Spears, having “effectively surrendered” his position as conservator of her estate last week, it seems that the pop star’s situation is finally starting to change.
