Tom Holland Calls Zendaya “My MJ” in Special Birthday Message

Tom Holland celebrated Zendaya’s birthday on Instagram with a very special, and unusually public, display of affection.

On Wednesday, the actor commemorated his Spiderman co-star and rumored girlfriend’s 25th birthday with a mirror selfie of the two of them on set. “My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when your [sic] up xxx,” he captioned the shot. In the image, Holland wears his spandex Spiderman bodysuit while Zendaya, also in costume, cozies up behind him with a huge smile on her face and a camera held up to one eye. Speculation the two Marvel stars are more than just friends has been going on for years, but those rumors were rekindled in early July after they were spotted kissing in a car. Since then, they’ve also been photographed eating dinner together and even attending a friend’s wedding.

Holland and Zendaya first met in 2016 on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the film in which Zendaya was first introduced as MJ, Peter Parker’s love interest. But while their characters didn’t officially get together until 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, according to a source who spoke to People, the actors started dating back in July 2017, although they have since both been linked to other people. And in August of this year, another insider told Us Weekly not to expect any big, public declarations of love from either star as, “They’re both not one to make their relationship public. They’re private when it comes to dating, so any photos that have come out would’ve just been them going about their business and not knowing photographers were around.” Their relationship has also apparently been a slow burn, as the source adds, “Zendaya and Tom started off as really great friends and stayed that way for a long while before things turned romantic.”
