Paris Hilton Is Engaged For the Fourth Time

Last week, Paris Hilton gifted her boyfriend Carter Reum with a huge, Schitt’s Creek-inspired painting of the two of them locked in embrace to commemorate his 40th birthday. And this week, Reum found a way to one-up that romantic gesture for the heiress’s own 40th birthday by proposing with a huge, custom-designed ring.

Hilton announced the news that she’s officially spoken for on Instagram on Wednesday, posting a slideshow of images of the exact moment her venture capitalist boyfriend got down on one knee. “When you find your soulmate, you don’t just know it. You feel it,” the socialite wrote in the caption. “My love & I have been together since our first date, and for my birthday, he arranged a special trip to tropical paradise. As we walked to dinner along the beach, Carter led us to a cabana adorned with flowers and dropped to one knee. I said yes, yes to forever. There’s no one I’d rather spend forever with.” She then directed fans who’d like to see more of the big moment to her personal website where there’s already an extensive photo gallery of highlights from the couple’s one year relationship, a gallery of the proposal itself, and a video about the making of her custom engagement ring.

Reum proposed during Hilton’s birthday celebration on a private island with an emerald-cut diamond ring designed by Jean Dousset, the great-great-grandson of Louis-François Cartier. “My love went above and beyond in every way,” Hilton wrote on her website, describing her new ring as “breathtakingly beautiful” and noting that it “appears to be lit from within.” The design—named “Paris” after both the heiress and the city it drew inspiration from—features one large center stone flanked by two slightly smaller trapezoidal diamonds held in place by a setting covered with even more small diamonds that’s based off of the architecture of the Grand Palais and Eiffel Tower.

“This past year with COVID has accelerated so many things,” Hilton told People following the betrothal. “As someone who traveled constantly, I had a chance to stay home and reevaluate what was important to me. My relationship and the time I spent with Carter was a gift. I’m excited for our next chapter.” Reum also told the outlet, “I have gotten the unique opportunity to get to know the real Paris on a daily basis just the two of us during these past 15 months and I couldn’t be more excited and lucky to have her as my future wife and partner. She shines with her kindness, work ethic, authenticity and her voice in making the world a better place and she will do the same as a future mother and wife.”

Hilton will also be discussing her engagement in more depth on the premiere episode of her podcast This Is Paris on Monday.
