Jim Carrey’s SNL Gig as Joe Biden Is Over

Jim Carrey doesn’t have to stay up so late on Saturday nights anymore.

The actor and comedian alerted his fans via Twitter on Saturday that his stint as President-elect Joe Biden on SNL has come to an end. He joked that he’d like to believe the former Vice President’s win was because he “nailed that shit,” and added that he was just one in “a long line of proud, fighting SNL Bidens.”

Carrey, who is based in Los Angeles, quite a schlep from Studio 8H at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York, impersonated Biden six times this season. He often appeared alongside Maya Rudolph as Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and Alec Baldwin as President Donald Trump, the former steak salesman who was impeached by the House of Representatives.

Carrey’s casting as Biden gained a lot of attention, but wasn’t quite the home run some were expecting. V.F.‘s Karen Valby referred to his portrayal as “uncomfortable schtick at half speed.”

The replacement Biden has not been announced. Carrey, on the other hand, can get back to painting.
