Emilio Vitolo Jr. had some choice words for Governor Andrew Cuomo during Wednesday’s snowstorm.
The pasta empire scion and boyfriend of Katie Holmes is currently fuming over the city’s decision to shut down indoor dining for at least two weeks beginning on Monday in an attempt to help curb coronavirus cases. This revenue-crushing move was compounded on Wednesday afternoon by the city’s announcement that it would also be temporarily suspending outdoor dining in response to the impending nor’easter. Local government urged restaurants to remove the tops of their outdoor dining structures, if not take them off the street entirely, to make snow clean-up easier.
The Emilio’s Ballato chef posted a video to his Instagram Stories in response to these new regulations on Wednesday night, walking through his empty restaurant before stepping outside to film all the snow coming down. He wrote over the clip, “We all going to be out of business you fuck face……Only place you’re going to be able to get food is McDonald’s or Taco Bell,” tagging Cuomo in the post. He then added “can’t fucking catch a break,” tagging his restaurant along with a loudly crying emoji, boxing gloves, and a cartoon man jumping up and down in anger. At the end of the video, Emilio can be heard saying to no one in particular, “Aw, fuck.”
While the dining situation in Manhattan does look dire for a number of businesses both large and small that have struggled to make ends meet throughout the pandemic, Vitolo Jr. happens to have an ace up his sleeve—his girlfriend, Katie Holmes. The actress has already proven she’s more than willing to do a little free restaurant promo for the holidays in the name of love.
