George Clooney Says He’s Been Cutting His Own Hair with a Flowbee for 25 Years

Many men have spent the last nine months growing out their hair as the global pandemic and subsequent lockdown have made regular trips to the hair salon a thing of the past. But George Clooney claims that he hasn’t missed a single trim in 2020, as he’s been cutting his own locks since at least the mid-90s.

In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the actor confessed he’s been spending his time off from acting this year doing laundry, taking care of his twins, mopping floors, staining garage doors, and, generally, feeling “like my mother in 1964.” When asked if he’s been cutting his own hair in quarantine too, Clooney replied, “I’ve been cutting my own hair for 25 years. My hair’s really like straw, so it’s easy to cut. You can’t really make too many mistakes.”

But the actor would like you to believe that the secret to his successful at-home trims isn’t his hair texture, but rather a little item he picked up off a late-night infomercial. “Years ago, I bought a thing called a Flowbee,” Clooney confessed, referring to the “vacuum haircutting system” first developed in the 1980s. “It comes with a vacuum cleaner and the clippers? Yeah, I still have it! My haircuts take literally two minutes,” he said while miming running the hair-cutting vacuum all over his head. When the interviewer asked if his current ‘do is a Flowbee original, he replied, “Yeah, that’s Flowbee! Listen, man, it works. Now, you know…I wouldn’t do it to my wife.” And with all that money saved on trips to the hairdresser over the last quarter-century, Clooney could probably afford to give a fifteenth friend a suitcase full of a million dollars in cash.
