The Black Keys Expand ‘Ohio Players,’ Announce Latin America Shows

After abruptly canceling a planned North American tour in late May, the Black Keys have announced their first new shows since then in tandem with an expanded version of their latest album, Ohio Players. The Trophy Edition of the project is due Nov. 15 from Nonesuch/Warner and includes four new songs, led by “Mi Tormenta” featuring regional Mexican star DannyLux.

Beyond “Mi Tormenta,” which finds Keys frontman Dan Auerbach singing in Spanish for the first time and is accompanied by a Corey Bost-directed video, Trophy Edition sports collaborations with Alice Cooper (“Stay in Your Grave”) and Beck (“I’m With the Band,” “Sin City”). It will include a different album cover and a newly sequenced track list.

In addition, Amazon is offering its own exclusive version of Trophy Edition on purple vinyl, augmented with the Amazon Music Original bonus track “Let Love Take Its Time.”

“We held back five of our favorite tracks planning for their release to coincide with our tour of North America. Even though our year got turned upside down, we still needed to deliver these new songs to our fans,” the Black Keys say. Adds DannyLux, “working with the Black Keys was an experience I’ll never forget. I’ve been a huge fan of their music and style for years and it was fun adding my touch to one of their songs. It’s been cool to see them evolve as a band over time and being a part of this project helped me grow as an artist.”

Meanwhile, the Black Keys will be back on the road for concerts in Lima (March 27), Bogota (March 29) and Mexico City (April 2). The group has only played one full show since wrapping a European tour in mid-June.
