Could We Ever Get Sick Of Law & Order: SVU’s Amanda Rollins?

We’re calling it. There’s no way the audience would ever get sick of Law & Order: SVU‘s Amanda Rollins.

Kelli Giddish said in an interview with TV Insider that having Rollins appear on a recurring basis would help prevent that possibility.

Hopefully, she was joking because the idea of too much Rollins doesn’t compute.

She’s Still Missed Two Years After Her Exit

When news broke that Kelli Giddish was leaving SVU, fans were outraged. Social media was full of posts threatening to boycott the long-running police procedural if Rollins wasn’t reinstated.

Two years later, Rollins has made several guest appearances, and after her last one, there was renewed hope that she would return full-time. However, there was mass disappointment when the plans for season 26 didn’t develop that way.

Rather than getting sick of Law & Order: SVU’s Amanda Rollins, there seems to be an insatiable appetite for more.

Some fans are still boycotting or threatening to, while others hope that her new role on SVU will lead to a spinoff, which is not out of the question.

She Is A Unique, Relatable Character That SVU Has Not Been Able To Replicate

Rollins endeared herself to audiences because she was a complex, troubled character with a big heart who struggled to overcome her dysfunctional upbringing and past trauma.

That made her the perfect complement to Benson, who also came to SVU hoping to heal herself by helping other survivors.

Several stories featuring Law & Order: SVU’s Amanda Rollins were among the most moving mental health stories the series has had, especially when she was dealing with challenges related to her gambling addiction.

The writers understand what makes Rollins popular, at least to a degree. That’s why she’s been replaced by a never-ending stream of women who have traumatic histories and difficult relationships with their families.

It doesn’t work because there’s no way to create Rollins 2.0. We aren’t sick of Law & Order: SVU’s Amanda Rollins; we’re tired of these attempts to clone her!

SVU’s Rollins Still Has So Much Story To Tell

Her New Role Offers Too Many Opportunities To Get Sick Of Her

Even if we were getting sick of Rollins, which we’re not, the new direction she’s going in now offers original stories that we can’t wait for!

During Law & Order: SVU Season 26, Rollins will join the Intelligence Unit, which focuses on counter-terrorism.

This is a brand-new department for the franchise to explore, giving Rollins plenty of potential for One Chicago crossovers and visits to other Law & Order shows.

There’s room for personal stories, too, since Rollins will travel frequently, which could strain her relationship with Carisi.

All in all, Rollins’ return seems like good news, especially if these guest appearances turn into a spinoff featuring her as the lead detective in the Intelligence Unit. We love the idea of a happier, more fulfilled Rollins, so it’s very unlikely we’ll get sick of her any time soon.
