‘Chucky’ Losing Main Star, Is The Horror Series Canceled?

Chucky fans are worried the fan-favorite horror TV series might be ending. This all came with a social media post by one of the show’s biggest stars. While it sounds like changes are coming, the Child’s Play icon’s future remains in the air.

Here is what we know about Chucky Season 4.

Was Chucky Canceled After Season 3?

There is no renewal announcement after the end of Chucky Season 3. However, this does not mean the show is finished. However, fans see the end is possibly near, thanks to what actor Devon Sawa posted on social media.

Sawa plays Jake’s father, Lucas, and his twin brother, Logan, in Seasons 1 and 3. He also played Father Bruce, the headmaster of the Catholic School of the Incarnate Lord, in Season 2. Sawa posted on X (via The Direct) that “Producers have told me to move on. I don’t know what it means, but I guess that’s what I AM doing. Sadly.”

This quickly made many fans believe the show was ending after Season 3.

However, Sawa tried to backtrack somewhat on the statement (as evidenced by deleting his X post). The actor also said that he had told fans he wouldn’t return for Season 2 but then came back as a different character. He also told fans he wouldn’t be back for Season 3 but returned as Jake’s dad again. According to Sawa, he just wanted to tease the fans.

Don Mancini Planning More Chucky

With all that said, Don Mancini says more is planned for Chucky. The man who helped create Chucky said that he has already pitched a new season for the show.

“There’s very little I can say about that. I can’t tell you my idea for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it,” Mancini said. “I already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I really like to do.”

He then said that it was something to make it “fun” and “new” and that it is a “left turn” based on what has happened so far. Remember, the first season was about a high school student tormented by Chucky. It then moved on to a Catholic school and then the White House. Clearly, Mancini broke new ground with Chucky in the series.

Not only does he have a new season pitched, but Mancini also said he has plans for a new movie. “I want to keep doing new movies and, in fact, I’m in the early stages of starting to develop one now, which is designed to work in tandem with the TV show. You know, the ongoing attempt to try to conquer the universe with Chucky.”
