Pawn Stars is one of the History Channel’s longest-running and most successful shows. However, fans were unhappy when the show had a marathon of episodes earlier this week. Even fans of the show accused the History Channel of disrespect for playing episodes of the show.
Here is why fans didn’t think the History Channel should have played Pawn Stars.
The History Channel Plays New Pawn Stars Marathon
Most fans are overjoyed when the History Channel offers a Pawn Stars marathon. The show allows fans to see Rick Harrison and his crew, including Chris Harrison and Chumlee, as they offer up money for some very interesting items. However, this last week’s marathon was seen as disrespectful.
The History Channel aired the Pawn Stars marathon on Thursday, June 6. That day was the 80th anniversary of D-Day, which was the Invasion of Normandy in World War II. Many fans were frustrated since The History Channel celebrated this day by showing old episodes of the reality show.
It wasn’t wrong to play a marathon on D-Day. The problem was that the marathon happened on The History Channel, a channel dedicated to history. It chose a massively important day in history to show reality show reruns. This happened instead of showing historical shows about D-Day.
Fans Bash The History Channel For Pawn Stars Marathon
For its part, The History Channel might not have shown anything historical based on D-Day during the day, but they did have something on TV later that night with D-Day: The Unheard Tapes.
Today marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, when Allied forces landed some 156,000 soldiers on the beaches of Normandy on #ThisDayInHistory in 1944. D-Day was the largest amphibious invasion in history and by the end of August 1944, most of Northern France had been liberated.… pic.twitter.com/TE7jNLngaa

D-Day: The Unheard Tapes aired that night. It was a two-part documentary that aired at 8/7c on D-Day (June 6) and streamed the next day for those who missed it. This documentary relives the Allied invasion of Nazi-occupied Normandy through the voices and words of those who fought in it from all sides.
However, seeing Pawn Stars playing all throughout the day made many fans mad.
- “And on the 80th anniversary of D-Day…The History Channel shows…Reruns of Pawn Stars…Until 8 pm. this evening. Way to live up to your name, History Channel!”
- “It’s the 80th anniversary of D-Day, so the History Channel is airing a Pawn Stars marathon.”
- “The History Channel chose to go with that great historical epic Pawn Stars.”
