AlElizabeth Smart has teamed up once again with Lifetime for another Ripped From The Headlines movie. The new movie is called The Girl Locked Upstairs: The Tanya Kach Story. This movie stars Robert Baker and Jordyn Ashley Olsen.
This movie is based on a true story. It “follows Tanya Kach, who was groomed by the security guard at her middle school and held captive in his home for 10 years.”
Elizabeth Smart, who is a kidnapping survivor and advocate is the executive producer. Viewers already know her work from Abducted By My Teacher: The Elizabeth Thomas Story, as well as The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story. In addition to being executive producer, there will be a documentary, where Elizabeth speaks with Tanya about what happened.

According to The Futon Critic, Tanya Kach was a 14-year-old with a lot of personal issues. She was at risk due to two factors. Firstly, she was bullied at school. Also, her family life was not great. Therefore, she was very unhappy.
However, she soon becomes friends with Tom Hose, the school’s security guard. Slowly, he starts to groom her. Soon, she visits his home. But, there, she is held captive and he abuses her. This goes on for a decade.
But, Tom allows her to take on a part-time job. That is because he believes he has her totally brainwashed. He is convinced she will never leave him. But, that is not what happens.
“Out from under Tom’s watchful eye, Tanya finally finds the courage to take a dangerous step toward freedom.”
