Bruce Springsteen has released the second single from his new album Only the Strong Survive. It’s a cover of “Nightshift,” the title track of the Commodores’ final Motown album. The single arrives with a music video directed by frequent Springsteen collaborator Thom Zimny. Watch “Nightshift” below.

The Commodores’ Walter Orange co-wrote “Nightshift” with Francine Golde and Dennis Lambert. They made the song in tribute to R&B greats Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson, who both died in 1984.

Springsteen is releasing the soul covers album Only the Strong Survive on November 11. The record includes songs popularized by Frank Wilson, Jackie Shane, Jimmy Ruffin, the Walker Brothers, and others. Springsteen made the new album with producer Ron Aniello and engineer Rob Lebret, among others.
