Sarah Jessica Parker, 57, is reportedly dealing with a “sudden devastating family situation,” according to Page Six. The actress was meant to attend the New York City Ballet Gala, where she was set to be honored, on Sept. 28. However, she reportedly pulled out at the last minute. Someone in attendance told Page Six that it was announced on stage that the honoree’s decision to pull out was because of the sudden family situation. People also reports that SJP is dealing with a “family issue,” and HollywoodLife has reached out to a rep for comment.
In addition to missing the NYC Ballet Gala, SJP also reportedly missed a virtual press conference for Hocus Pocus 2 on Sept. 28, according to Entertainment Tonight. It’s unclear what came on so quickly, but on Sept. 27, the actress seemed in great spirits while attending the movie’s premiere in New York City. She attended the event with her husband, Matthew Broderick, and their twin daughters, Tabitha and Marion, 13. It was a rare public outing for the teenagers, who are generally kept out of the public eye.
SJP is on the Board Of Directors for the New York City Ballet and has long been involved with the organization. While she could not be in attendance, her friends, like Kristin Davis and Andy Cohen, were at the Gala on Wednesday. It’s a big week for SJP, as Hocus Pocus 2 begins streaming on Disney+ on Sept. 30. The sequel has been nearly 30 years in the making, with the original movie being released in 1993.
Meanwhile, in the midst of press for Hocus Pocus 2, SJP is also currently filming season 2 of her HBO Max series And Just Like That. The Sex & The City revival premiered its first season at the end of 2021, and will return with SJP, Kristin and Cynthia Nixon for a follow-up. Kim Cattrall was not involved in the new series.
