Lori Loughlin Walks the Red Carpet For the First Time Since the College Admissions Scandal

Lori Loughlin returned to the red carpet for a good cause after serving time for her role in the college admission scandal.

The actress attended the DesignCare 2022 Gala in Los Angeles, California on Saturday evening in support of the HollyRod Foundation. This charitable organization was founded in 1997 by actress Holly Robinson Peete and her husband Rodney Peete, a former NFL player, to raise awareness and provide resources to families with a loved one that has received an autism or Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis. For the occasion, Loughlin wore a long-sleeved, knee-length, blue dress paired with a silver box clutch and strappy sandals, leaving her blonde hair down in loose waves.

This is the Full House star’s first red carpet since she and her husband Mossimo Giannulli were both arrested in March 2019 for their involvement in the college admission scandal. In May 2020, the couple plead guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud for paying $500,000 in bribes to get their two daughters, Olivia Jade and Bella, into the University of Southern California. As part of their sentence, Loughlin was made to pay a $150,000 fine and complete 150 hours of community service, while her husband also paid a $250,000 fine and completed 250 hours of community service. The actress began her prison sentence in October 2020 and served nearly two months, before being released from the federal correctional facility in Dublin, California.

Since completing her prison sentence, Loughlin has also reportedly “privately arranged to put two students through four years of college” and has paid their tuition and the expenses which, according to a source, total over $500,000. They added that the actress is now looking toward her future in the hopes that she “be allowed to move on” as she feels like there is “this stigma attached to her by people who don’t want her to have any success.” Loughlin is also focused on kickstarting her career again after returning to her role on When Hope Calls for a Christmas special late last year.
