Just weeks after a previous arrest and a rash of erratic and disruptive behavior, The Flash and Fantastic Beasts actor Ezra Miller has again been arrested by Hawaii County police, this time on suspicion of assaulting a woman at a house party.
“Shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, a 29-year-old visitor from Vermont was arrested for second-degree assault after an incident at a residence in Pāhoa,” according to a statement from the Hawaii Police Department.
It happened in the Puna district on the eastern side of the Big Island “at a get-together at a private residence in the Leilani Estates subdivision,” the police statement said. “During the course of their investigation, police determined that the individual, later identified as Ezra Miller, became irate after being asked to leave and reportedly threw a chair, striking a 26-year-old female on the forehead, resulting in an approximate half-inch cut,” the statement said. “The female victim refused treatment for her injury.”
Miller, who prefers to use they/them pronouns, apparently left the home before police arrived, but was found around 1:30 a.m. during a traffic stop in the town of Kea‘au, about 15 miles from the site of the alleged altercation.
“After conferring with the County Prosecutor’s Office, at 4:05 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Miller was released pending further investigation,” the Hawaii Police statement said. “This is an active investigation.”
Miller has been raising eyebrows for some time with their behavior, including an incident from 2020 in which they appeared to abruptly grab a woman by the throat, and an Instagram rant in January about the Ku Klux Klan that had some people cheering and many others merely confused. Late last month, the actor’s unsettling behavior began to increase in volume and severity.
On March 28, Miller was arrested at a bar after lashing out at fellow patrons. According to police, the actor was “yelling obscenities and became agitated when people began singing karaoke.” The actor was later released after posting $500 bail.
The next day, on March 29, a couple filed a restraining order against Miller, claiming the actor had entered their home, threatened them, and stole a wallet and passport. The restraining order was dropped on April 12.
Warner Bros. executives have reportedly paused future projects involving the actor, who has already filmed the upcoming DC Comics film The Flash. The studio directed inquiries about the actor to Miller’s lawyer, Jodi Peikoff.
Peikoff did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment.
