Teacher ‘relived of duty’ after belting out Britney Spears on karaoke machine in class

A substitute teacher was given the boot after breaking into a full-blown rendition of a Britney Spears classic in school.

At the Bowie High School in Austin, an unidentified teacher was filmed by his students breaking out into a rendition of “Toxic” – complete with a light show. Because, after all, it’s Britney, b***h.

In video footage, the teacher, who must be protected at all costs, sits behind a computer monitor in the classroom and starts singing.

“I’m addicted to you / Don’t you know that you that you’re toxic?” the teacher wails as multi-coloured lights shine bright. “And I love what you do / Don’t you know that you’re toxic?”

Rumours on campus swirled that the substitute teacher may have been a prankster.

But district officials confirmed that he was a registered teacher and the video is very, very real. He even brought in a karaoke machine especially for his performance.

Texas substitute teacher started singing Britney Spears – and nobody knows why

The teacher was asked to leave campus for failing to follow the “best practices” of the district because it was a “bit much”, an Austin Independent School District spokesperson told FOX59.

“I’ve heard worse Britney Spears covers,” they dryly said, “but the lights are a bit much.”

The spokesperson added that the educator has been “relieved of his duty” and has since picked up another job at an Austin high school.

He didn’t have a formal AISD security access badge, which all registered employees have, but was not arrested, with the incident not being considered by administrators as a criminal matter.

The teacher had passed background checks when he came through the front desk before class before being asked to leave following the first period.

“All processes were followed, it was simply a case of a substitute not following our practices,” the district representative added.

It’s unclear, however, why the teacher was even singing Britney Spears in the first place.

The educator may have simply been giving his students a masterclass in Britney, who was last month finally freed from her nearly 14-years-long conservatorship.

Los Angeles County superior judge deemed that the complex legal arrangement, which saw the star’s personal and financial affairs controlled by others, was no longer necessary.

Judge Brenda Penny took less than half an hour to arrive at the decision, a stunning end to the singer’s lengthy fight for her freedom.

Britney, 40, has gone on to sing, dance, thank her countless supportersshoot a film and do all the things she was once unable to do.

“I’ve been in a conservatorship for 13 years,” Britney said in an Instagram video last month.

“It’s a really long time to be in a situation you don’t want to be in. So, I’m just grateful, honestly, for each day.”
