In Unsurprising News, Adele Will Take Her Place in the Pantheon of Las Vegas Residencies

Britney Spears. Liberace. Celine Dion. Sinatra. Diana Ross. J.Lo.

Adele is set to take her place among the greats with a Las Vegas residency beginning in the new year. Are you shocked? Surprised? Has there ever been more of a shoo-in for such a thing?

Weekends With Adele will live at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace every Friday and Saturday night between January 21 and April 16, 2022. Between her albums 19, 21, 25, and finally this year’s 30, there are enough ballads to keep the Las Vegas desert awash in audience tears until she releases, say, 50.

Not that Adele is going to need much help in landing ticket buyers, but consider this: The show might make a great divorce-moon trip. She’s so good at articulating heartbreak in the key of F minor, and this past album is the biggest emotional whopper yet, since it is about, in her words, “divorce, babe, divorce.” I can see it! All those pandemic divorces coming through finally, and the whole group piling into a plane to go heal with Adele and champagne. Calling it now! Las Vegas divorce-moons! It’s gonna be a thing!
