Brody Dalle was sentenced to 60 hours of community service today after being found guilty of misdemeanor contempt in her custody dispute with Josh Homme, Rolling Stone reports. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lawrence Riff found her guilty of withholding her 5-year-old son from Homme’s court-mandated custodial time in September, while dismissing an adjacent charge involving Dalle’s 10-year-old son, finding that the older child had decided against visiting his father of his own volition. Dalle had pleaded not guilty last month to both charges.

“As a mother, I will always put my children first and protect them at all costs,” Dalle said in a statement give through a representative. “Camille and Ryder’s testimony throughout these proceedings have finally given them a voice to be heard, and it weighed heavily in today’s outcome. I truly respect the court’s decision and have already received an overwhelming amount of love and support. I look forward to the opportunity to help those in need.”

Dalle and Homme both made statements in court today. “I didn’t withhold our children. Our children testified to that. Our children testified to the abuse they have experienced at the hands of their father and the reasons why they refused to go and continue to refuse to go,” Dalle said, according to Rolling Stone. “[Homme] testified to calling me a cunt, a cow, and telling me to, ‘Fuck off forever.’ Does this sound like a person who wants to do the right thing by our children? He has taken no responsibility for his words and actions and the effect that they have had on our children.”

“[I am] willing to take responsibility for things that I do… I’ve suffered a lot of parental alienation in a short period of time,” Homme reportedly said. “This family is in grave danger and so fractured and ripped apart. All I want to do is see my kids. I want my mother to see her grandkids. I want my father to see his grandkids.”

In September, domestic violence restraining orders were filed against Homme on behalf of his two sons, alleging physically and verbally abusive behavior and drinking while driving. It was originally reported that Dalle’s signature appeared on those filings, but Dalle testified that her signatures were forged on that paperwork. Homme accused Dalle’s boyfriend Gunner Foxx of forging the signatures and filing the restraining orders.

A representative for Homme offered no further comment.
