Kim Kardashian’s Brand Skims Announces Fendi Collaboration

Kim Kardashian‘s shapewear brand is getting the high fashion treatment.

The reality star announced in an interview with WSJ. Magazine released on Monday that Skims is partnering with Italian luxury house Fendi on a collaboration collection. The ready-to-wear line will feature apparel, swimwear, lingerie, shapewear, and hosiery, all printed with a new custom Skims x Fendi logo. The prices of Kardashian’s new collection are as high-end as her collaborator, with dresses and tops costing around $950, leggings retailing for $1,100, and a puffer jacket going for $2,950. There will also be a sleeveless leather wrap dress that comes in eight shades and is priced at $4,200.

This partnership grew out of the Selfish author’s longtime friendship with Fendi’s creative director of womenswear and haute couture, Kim Jones. When she heard that the women in Jones’s office were fans of her shapewear, she “sent him a bunch,” she told the outlet. They then began discussing the possibility of working together in December of last year and, in March, Kardashian met Jones in Mexico to finalize designs and for fittings, as she served as the fit model for the entire collection. “I really like to be a fit model…I need to feel it,” she said. “I probably do so much more work than people assume, that might not even be necessary at this point. But I do it.” The star first launched Skims in September 2019, and this past June it was valued at $1.6 billion dollars.

In the interview, Kim also spoke fondly about her estranged husband, Kanye West, and the impact his strong aesthetic has had on her brand. “He has a piece of Skims himself and gives [the team] inspiration but also information. I think he enjoys the process,” she explained. “Kanye will always be the most inspirational person to me.”
