Despite their engagement coming to an end earlier this year, Alex Rodriguez says he’s “grateful” for his relationship with Jennifer Lopez and everything he learned from their time together.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, the former baseball player said, “I had five years of an incredible life and partnership and also with my daughters, we learned so much. And now we have the opportunity to take that and move forward and say, ‘You know what? We’re so grateful for the last five years, how do we make the next five years better because of lessons learned?’ So I’m in a great place. I’m so grateful for where God and the light has really put me, and I’m really looking forward. Mostly to see how my girls keep developing.” Rodriguez has two daughters—Natasha, 16, and Ella,13—whom he shares with his ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis.
Rodriguez’s optimistic outlook on this new chapter in his life comes after fans noticed that Lopez had unfollowed him on Instagram and deleted almost every photo of him on her account over the weekend, leaving up only the ones that also featured his children. The pair officially called off their engagement in April, issuing a joint statement to the Today show to announce their split. “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” it read. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have is to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
Since then, Lopez has moved on to another high-profile relationship with her former fiancé Ben Affleck, picking up exactly where they left off twenty years ago. Rodriguez, meanwhile, has made headlines for splashing around the Mediterranean and the Hamptons with various ladies, renting properties and taking birthday trips in extremely close proximity to his ex, and generally enjoying his hot girl summer.
