Irina Shayk Launches Shoe Capsule with Tamara Mellon

Style and comfort are the cornerstones of the Russian model’s new shoe capsule.

There’s something relatable about Russian Model, Irina Shayk, and her mirror-breaking beauty is not it. Her appreciation of a good looking and comfortable shoe, however, most certainly is. Coming out of the year of bare feet, slippers, and Birkenstocks, Shayk’s new capsule collaboration with Tamara Mellon has a trio of options that should be low on the blister scale and high on the reemergence charts. “I wanted three things from my capsule collection,” Shayk said in a recent call. “Style, versatility, and comfort.”

Shayk, who is usually jet-set, spent much of the last year at home with her daughter Lea, whom she co-parents with ex Bradley Cooper. “I was grateful to be able to spend time with my daughter and appreciate things in life that matter, friendship and family,” Shayk said of her Covid experience.

When it came to designing the capsule, she and shoe designer Tamara Mellon managed to do it virtually, which Shayk says wasn’t too different from doing it in person: “I loved getting on Zoom calls, [and] I enjoyed the process.” The trio of shoes, a flat sandal, a summer boot, and a heeled sandal, all have a substantial lug sole and are in line with Shayk’s love of comfort.

She’s looking forward to wearing the Escape boot the most. “I love summer boots,” she said. “The stacked heel gives you some height and the cushion insole makes sure that you’re comfortable.”

The capsule is available today, starting with the Sand Dune flat sandal.
