Who could forget Grace Kelly’s enviable turn in a mint-green Edith Head dress at the 1955 Oscars, when she won best actress for The Country Girl; or Elizabeth Taylor in a demure, pale-yellow and floral Christian Dior gown in1961? Certainly, these grand dames knew a thing or two about making an entrance. But their modern-day counterparts are equally exciting. America’s sweetheart Julia Roberts wowed in vintage Valentino when she won best actress for Erin Brockovich, and more recently, Gwyneth Paltrow showed off her minimalist side with a white, caped Tom Ford.
