Rihanna Went Incognito to a Stop Asian Hate Protest in New York City

After marching in the streets, she and boyfriend ASAP Rocky grabbed dinner at Carbone.

This weekend, Rihanna took to the streets to demonstrate her support for the Asian community amid a surge in hate crimes and violence over the past year.

The pop star was spotted at a New York City protest on Sunday carrying a sign that read “STOP ASIAN HATE” on one side and “HATE = RACISM AGAINST GOD” on the other. She tried to keep a low profile while moving through the crowds, wearing a black Burberry baseball cap and dark sunglasses paired with a black-and-white leather baseball jacket over a white hooded sweatshirt and black leather pants. Rihanna’s assistant Tina Truong shared a number of images and videos from their day of action on her Instagram account, including one showing the singer dancing through the streets with her sign before flashing a peace sign at the camera. In another video, the bad gal was captured giving her Instagram handle to a fellow protestor who thought she was playing a joke on him before he realized who he was actually speaking to.

And it seems she worked up quite an appetite after all that civil disobedience as the pop star was spotted that night grabbing a late dinner with her boyfriend ASAP Rocky at celebrity-favorite Carbone. Rihanna changed her outfit for the evening on the town, swapping her earlier baseball jacket for a longer Raf Simons style with yellow leather sleeves and a large green R on the chest. She elevated the sportswear-inspired statement jacket with a black mini dress, black strappy heels, and a Bottega Veneta clutch. After the meal, the couple left the restaurant separately, seemingly to cause less of a paparazzi frenzy.

This is the first time in several weeks that the musicians have been spotted enjoying each other’s company after Rihanna invited the rapper to spend the holidays with her at her home in Barbados. At the time, sources revealed that “They’ve been inseparable the past few weeks. It’s a new relationship, but they both seem very into it.”
