Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are fighting for the future of their relationship in real life, while anonymous sources close to the couple are duking it out on their behalf in the press.
Following reports the high-profile pair had broken up—reports which were quickly corrected to reflect they are simply “working through some things”—those with insider knowledge of the relationship flocked to the media in droves to tell the two celebrities’ side of the story. After finding out that J.Lo and A.Rod had two weddings planned in Italy and the Hamptons over the summer that they had to cancel due to COVID, the public learned that the stars’ connection is currently faltering due to long distance as Lopez is currently filming in the Dominican Republic while the retired MLB player stays in Miami. The following day, Rodriguez confirmed to the press that he’s “not single” while jetting off for a “happy reunion” with his fiancée. In response to the trip to save their relationship, one source explained that “They are really trying to figure things out,” while another revealed Lopez “was still sitting for fittings for [her wedding] dress last week” despite there being “issues between them.”
In case all of that wasn’t enough to convince you that the couple is still firmly committed to one another, on Wednesday, yet another source close to Lopez came forward, telling People, “The past few days were upsetting and stressful. She and Alex have a lot of issues they hope they can work through, but they both seem willing to do whatever it takes to stay together.” And while this news about their relationship struggles may come as a surprise, they added, “She’s been contemplating breaking up with Alex for six months. They both liked spending more time together as a family, but it was difficult to keep that special spark when they saw each other every day,” but have “been trying to keep it together for the kids.”
While the identity of this insider has not been revealed, one thing is clear, whoever it is definitely has way more intel on Lopez’s relationship than her own father. When asked about her and Rodriguez by the Daily Mail, the pop star’s dad, David Lopez, told the outlet, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I haven’t heard anything. I didn’t know. If I did, I would tell you ‘no comment,’ but I had no idea.”
