Kathryn Hahn has said she had “no hesitation” when she was asked to sing her iconic WandaVision theme tune “Agatha All Along”.
Hahn plays Agnes in the hit Disney+ series, a suspicious neighbour to Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany).
Fans were, if not surprised, the certainly thrilled when she was revealed to be the witch Agatha Harkness – and got a truly legendary theme tune to go with it.
WandaVision fans are obsessed with the hugely popular theme song – and now Hahn has revealed how it came about.
When asked by The Independent when she learned that she would get her own theme song, Hahn replied: “Oh, I knew about it from the beginning.”
She continued: “At my first meeting, they were like, ‘You’re going to get a theme song.’ And I was like, ‘I’m in.’ And then they were like, ‘Are you down with singing it?’ It was like, ‘Yes.’ I had no hesitation; I was so excited.
“I was a child who grew up with The Monsters and The Addams Family. And it took half an hour; that’s what’s so crazy about it.”
Kathryn Hahn praised WandaVision for not shying away from feelings
Hahn went on to praise WandaVision for the large number of women involved in creating it, and said she was drawn to the series because it doesn’t shy away from feelings.
“It wasn’t just action right off the bat. Wanda’s superpowers are coming from her feelings. There’s something I loved between the relationship of Agatha and Wanda.
“We talked a lot about Amadeus and Salieri, in terms of their relationship; Agatha wishes that she could make the kind of magic that the Scarlet Witch just had naturally. For someone that has spent centuries studying this, to meet a young person to whom it comes completely naturally, it’s maddening, and you want to know why.”
WandaVision has proven a huge hit since it started airing on Disney+ in January, with Hahn quickly becoming a viral sensation for her hilarious winking skills.
