Adele‘s divorce from her ex-husband Simon Konecki became official last week, almost three years after the pair first announced their separation. And now, the details of that split are coming to light.
According to the legal documents obtained by TMZ, Adele and Konecki have agreed to share joint physical and legal custody of their 8-year-old son, Angelo, and neither party will have to pay spousal support. A majority of the settlement is confidential, however, so it’s unclear if other payments of financial agreements were made between the former couple. The details of their child support were also hashed out in a separate judgement that has not been publicly filed.
Back in January, Us Weekly reported that the pair had finally come to an agreement on the terms of their divorce settlement after the singer filed a judgment packet with the court on January 15. But that agreement wasn’t made official until a judge signed off on the packet, which the court reportedly did last Thursday, according to Entertainment Tonight.
The estranged couple originally separated in April 2019, before Adele officially filed for divorce in September 2019. They first went public with their relationship in January 2012, announcing their pregnancy just 6 months later. Adele confirmed that she and Konecki had married during a March 2017 concert in Australia following tabloid speculation the pair had wed in January of that year after they were photographed wearing matching rings on their left hand ring fingers. A source told Us at the time of their split that their “relationship evolved, and they became more like friends than lovers. They realized the romantic love was no longer there,” adding that the couple was “disappointed, but it just didn’t work out.”
