Selena Gomez and Rauw Alejandro’s ‘Baila Conmigo’ Lyrics Capture the Thrill of New Love

Selena Gomez unveiled her second Spanish-language single, “Baila Conmigo” with Rauw Alejandro, at midnight. While her first, “De Una Vez,” lyrically focused on the beauty of overcoming heartbreak, “Baila Conmigo” captures an intoxicating first evening with someone new and the infatuation that follows.

The release of “Baila Conmigo” comes shortly after Gomez announced her upcoming Spanish EP, “REVELACIÓN.” The singer spoke to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe earlier this month about how easy it was to get into the mood of her new music while recording and singing in Spanish.

“I think Spanish came very naturally to me,” Gomez said. “So there were obviously moments where there were specific timing, there were cues that were so quick that I had to learn that were challenging, but as far as being able to say, and speak, and roll my Rs, and do all of that, that’s already in me, thank goodness. So it had its moments of being really smooth, and then just, I have a few things where I’m kind of speeding, rapping Spanish, which is cool.”

Gomez, for what it’s worth, is single and reportedly “more open to dating,” so the new song’s inspiration could be personal. In December, a source told Entertainment Tonight that “she is comfortable dating, but also comfortable being single. She’s not rushing into anything whatsoever. Selena is focusing on what makes her happy and what feels good to her—whether that’s a relationship or not.”

Gomez’s full album will come out on March 12. For now, “Baila Conmigo” is the second taste of what Gomez’s Spanish music will sound like and how the singer looks at love and relationships these days. Bebé, no sé si hablas mucho español / Baby, I don’t know if you speak much Spanish
Si entiendes cuando digo mi amor / if you understand when I say ‘my love’
Comernos sin entendernos, es mejor / making love without understanding each other is better
Solo tenemos que gustarnos / we just have to be into each other

Quieres que caiga en tentaciones / you want me to fall into temptation
Mira como me pone, ese acento que tienes / look what your accent does to me
No entiendo mucho pero vente / I don’t understand much, but come here

Baila, baila, baila conmigo / dance, dance, dance with me
Baila, baila que yo te sigo / dance, dance, I’ll follow you
Pégate / get closer
Ven suéltate / come get loose
No te me vayas sin las ganas de volver / don’t leave me without wanting to come back
Por eso baila, baila, baila conmigo / so dance, dance, dance with me
Baila, baila que yo te sigo / dance, dance, I’ll follow you
Bésame / kiss me
Solo una vez / just one time
Así tengo un motivo pa’ volverte a ver / that way I have a reason to see you again

Sinceramente dejemos que esto fluya / Honestly, let’s go with the flow
No sigas dándole mente / stop overthinking it
Tenemos toda la noche / we have all night
Pa’ que me enseñes de frente / so that you show me face-to-face
Todo lo que sientes / everything you feel
Me huele a que no tienes nada de inocente / I have a feeling you’re not that innocent

Cómo te digo / how do I tell you
Que no quiero hablar de amor / that I don’t want to talk about love
Que si es contigo / that if it’s with you
Tengo que pensar mejor / I should think about it more
Tranqui, déjalo así / relax, let’s leave it like that
Quiero quedarme aquí / I want to stay here
Pégate, ven a mi / Get closer, come here
Pégate, ven a mi / Get closer, come here

Te voy a dejar mi número / I’m going to leave you my number
Solo tienes que llamar / You just have to call
Cuando me eches de menos / When you miss me
Que yo le voy a llegar / and I’ll come to you baby
Baby aunque me quede lejos / Even if it’s far away
La nena es de otra ciudad / the girl is from another city
Pero le corre mi flow / but she’s into my flow
Tenía curiosidad y un beso me robó / she was curious and stole a kiss from me
No nos tenemos que hablar / we don’t have to talk
Si con mirarnos / just by looking at each other
Nos entendemos / we understand each other

No entiendo mucho pero… / I don’t understand much but…
