Jimmy Kimmel Calls Capitol Rioters ‘A Psychotic Price Is Right Audience’ In Scathing Monologue

Jimmy Kimmel joined a chorus of late night hosts condemning the Trump supporters and rioters who overtook the U.S. capitol on January 6, calling it ‘a terrible day in the history of this country.’

Jimmy Kimmel reacted to the Trump supporters and rioters who stormed the capitol on January 6 in his opening monologue last night. “Thank you for joining us for the treason finale of the Donald Trump era,” the Jimmy Kimmel Livhost, 53, began. “This was one of those days that I always assumed was behind us. This is not the sort of thing I ever imagined would happen in this country in my lifetime,” he mused.

“Trumpers today breached the capitol walls, they stormed the Senate Chamber; fighting with police, breaking windows, stealing things…Trespassers roamed the halls, broke into offices, this creep took a seat at Nancy Pelosi‘s desk, he took a piece of mail off of her desk,” Jimmy continued, showing a picture of the man in question with his feet on the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives’ desk. “The capitol was besieged by MAGA-hatters in all manner of crazy costumes. It was like a psychotic Price is Right audience forcibly taking control of the Plinko wheel,” he observed.

Of course, Jimmy wasn’t the only one to call out the horrific events that took place in the nation’s capitol. Stephen Colbert went live for his show last night, as well. His monologue was just as scathing, and even called out lawmakers. “Have you had enough? After five years of coddling this president’s fascist rhetoric, guess what? His followers want to burn down the Reichstag,” Stephen said, referencing a building in Germany that housed the Imperial Diet of the German Empire and was set on fire in 1933.

Stephen’s seemingly alluded to lawmakers, politicians and even media outlets for the “years and years of selling their conspiracies.” He doled out a scathing remark about the politicians who defended and supported President Donald Trump’s actions and words. “Let’s remember them for who they showed themselves to be today.”

James Corden, host of The Late Late Show, referred to the events that unfolded on January 6 as a “crazy, sad day.” The actor and late night host even remarked on how “hopeless” journalists covering the riot appeared. “I hope that when the dust settles, and we reflect on what happened on this awful day, that we still have hope,” he shared with viewers.

More late night hosts chimed in, echoing each other’s sentiments. “Today was a disgrace. Today was disappointing. But sadly, today was not a surprise,” Jimmy Fallon said on The Tonight Show. The riots that took place at the capitol on January 6 saw Trump supporters take over, loot, and destroy federal property as Congress and the Senate came together to certify the electoral votes, certifying the election of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris following their November 2020 election win.

Prior to rioting at the nation’s capitol, Trump supporters attended a rally not far from the capitol steps.  In the early hours of January 7, the votes were finally certified, as many continue to call out the violent events that unfolded. Following the riot, Twitter “locked” Donald Trump’s Twitter account for up to 12 hours. After the electoral college votes were certified in Biden and Harris’ favor, Trump issued statement through White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino‘s Twitter account that there would be an “orderly transition on January 20th.”
