Don’t worry everyone: Despite everything, Eric Trump, second son of Donald, will have his birthday. He will have it if Tiffany Trump has anything to do with it, at least. Around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, hours into Elizabeth’s Capitol Hill revolution, Tiffany has posted her preferred type of post—the birthday post, in which one posts flattering photos of oneself alongside perfectly fine, if not terrible, photos of the birthday girl or boy. So it has been since the dawn of Instagram and so it shall be, American democracy’s tenuous existence be damned.
You maybe could have considered the youngest Trump daughter the smart one, keeping her head down whenever things get too hot, going to law school instead of going down with daddy’s ship—at least until her well-practiced Republican National Convention speech and then the absolutely perfect pro-Trump follow-up speech. If neither of those happened, but this birthday post did happen, then one could have a pretty decent theory: Tiffany is absolutely refusing to pay attention.
The Capitol was stormed today by pro-Trump extremists. Media crews were intimidated, Congresspeople fled, and those who were left donned gas masks and were instructed to take cover behind bulletproof chairs. Trump told those that broke into the building that he loves them and they’re “very special.” A woman died. Tiffany Trump’s siblings tried to do something about all the American carnage. What they are trying to do is still to be determined. But at least they were making words at and around the situation.
Anyway Eric Trump is 37! Happy birthday, guy. It won’t be Tiff, but hope someone gives you a conscience.
