Charlize Theron desperately wants to star in a lesbian version of Die Hard where a woman goes on a rampage to save her wife, and we are 100 per cent here for it.
Die Hard, released in 1988, follows New York detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) as he gets caught in a terrorist plot in Los Angeles while visiting his estranged wife.
The film quickly became a Christmas classic and is a staple of the festive season for many people – but what LGBT+ audiences really need is a queer version.
And Charlize Theron is on board to make that happen.
The Atomic Blonde star threw her weight behind the idea of a lesbian version of Die Hard on Twitter, showing just how committed she is to giving the gays everything they want.
Twitter wants Tilda Swinton to join Charlize Theron in a lesbian Die Hard
The idea of a lesbian Die Hard fronted by Charlize Theron was first floated by a Twitter user on 5 December.
“Lesbian Christmas rom-coms are all well and good but what I REALLY want is a Die Hard where Charlize Theron goes on a rampage to save her wife,” the Twitter user wrote.
On 8 December, Theron shared the retweeted the post and wrote: “Where do I sign”.
It’s safe to say that LGBT+ Twitter users were fully behind the idea of Theron playing a furious lesbian.
Actor Hannah Simone volunteered to be Theron’s wife in a lesbian version of Die Hard, writing: “Let me know if you need a tired Indian wife who doesn’t like to run fast even when danger is present and therefore would need all the saving.”

Others had important suggestions for other actors that should join the cast.
I’d cast Tilda Swinton as the villain

Others were just distracted by the idea of Theron playing a lesbian.
good luck anyone who needed an email from a teacher, social worker, physician, second-in-command at corporate, entrepreneur, veterinarian, chef, project planner, producer or artisan: the lesbian community is wholly distracted in reverie, please give us a moment of privacy

Charlize Theron is widely loved within the LGBT+ community, and has been outspoken in her support for queer people throughout her career.
In 2019, she revealed that her daughter Jackson is transgender.
When asked about Jackson’s gender identity, Theron replied: “Yes, I thought she was a boy too. Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said: ‘I am not a boy!’”
Theron said she had “two beautiful daughters”, and added: “They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide.”
