‘P.T.’ Was, But Now Isn’t Playable on The PlayStation 5

So, this is a kick in the teeth, to say the least.

Back in October, we ran the story about how while it was obvious that you couldn’t re-download Konami’s P.T. demo from the PlayStation Store to your new PlayStation 5, it was, however, quite likely possible to play the demo on the PS5 using its transfer feature. And, in fact, it is. But that, unfortunately, appears to no longer be the case.

According to Polygon, the demo could not only be transferred from their PS4 to their PS5 that they had received for review purposes, but it was very much playable. However, with Sony gearing up for the PS5’s November 12th launch, the reviewer attempted to play P.T. again after a recent update, only to find that it will no longer boot, and is now listed as a “Playable on PS4” title (as you can see below).

In other words, it can’t be played on the PS5 at all. When reached for comment, Sony explained that it was a “publisher decision” to remove the ability to play the demo.

Better save your PS4 and your copy of P.T., after all.
