CD Projekt Red is still beavering away, applying the finishing touches to the highly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077‘s November release, but the company isn’t quite done with its last game yet.
The Polish developer announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2021, bringing a host of technical improvements to what is one of the defining games of the current console generation. Better yet, it will be a free upgrade for existing owners of the game.
The company promises faster loading time, improved visuals, and will use ray tracing technology to quite literally let you see the world of The Witcher in a new light. That’ll make those creepy woods that little bit creepier. The changes will also apply to the game’s two expansions.
The upgrade will also be available for owners of the game on PC. You’ll also be able to buy it as a standalone next-gen title if you haven’t already purchased the game.
There’s no set release date, but it has been confirmed that The Witcher 3‘s next-gen overhaul will arrive at some stage next year. Probably after everyone’s had their fill of Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077 (so probably never).
