John Cusack took his cell phone and his bicycle to the streets of Chicago Saturday night, and shared short videos of police and demonstrator activity.
One ten second clip showed a burning car, with him adding the word “ugly.”
After that he was chased away by police, who, according to the Say Anything and High Fidelity star, hit his bike with their batons. You don’t see it, but you definitely hear it.
“All right, all right, all right,” the actor responds to the police officer’s shouts.
Later he shared a short clip of the, in his words, “peace officers who gently tuned up his bike.”
In the midst of a difficult night — one that will likely be taught in future history classrooms — the unharmed Cusack’s unexpected cameo offered a moment of needed levity.
