Joyce Manor Announce Rarities Album, Share New Video: Watch

California pop punk band Joyce Manor have announced a new compilation called Songs From Northern Torrance. The album is out this Friday, May 29, via Epitaph. The compilation features remastered versions of rarities that frontman Barry Johnson and guitarist Chase Knobbe recorded from 2008-2010. Some of the songs have been on proper Joyce Manor albums (like “Leather Jacket” from 2011’s Joyce Manor) and others are fan favorites that are often played live (namely “5 Beer Plan”). Below, watch the band’s new lyric video for “House Warning Party.”

“A lot of early Joyce Manor songs are actually leftovers from earlier bands, but ‘House Warning Party‘ was the first song I wrote specifically for Joyce Manor,” frontman Barry Johnson said in a press release. “I was working at the Long Beach Aquarium and the first line of the song came to me while I was perusing the vending machine on my break.”

Joyce Manor last released Million Dollars to Kill Me in 2018. Read Pitchfork’s 2016 interview with Barry Johnson.
