Yet Another Way of Looking at Kristin Cavallari’s Quarantine

The ever-evolving Kristin Cavallari story line of the past couple of months started with a mid-coronavirus Bahamas vacation and is now largely about her divorce from Jay Cutler, which the pair announced on April 26, a few weeks after returning from their trip. The divorce is now naturally taking center stage, mostly through a series of anonymous sources telling the tabloids that Cutler was lazy or rude.

And even though Cavallari is, like any good reality-TV veteran, staying very much in the spotlight, those reports are still the primary home of the fallout. On Saturday she weighed in herself on Instagram Live, and said that she’s quarantining with her longtime best friend/hairstylist/Bahamas companion. For the most part she stuck to talking about quotidian challenges rather than the ones that have been in headlines.

As People points out, during an Instagram Live conversation with her stylist Dani Michelle, Cavallari said, “I’m at my friend Justin’s house right now. We’ve been together for the entire quarantine time, literally from day one.” She was referring to Justin Anderson, who plays a central role in her E! reality series, Very Cavallari, and who, as her Instagram followers know, was with Cavallari and Cutler on the vacation that preceded the couple’s divorce filing.

Which is just to say that Cavallari enthusiasts have an array of views into her current circumstances even in the absence of a new Very Cavallari season: not just the tabloid reports and her Instagram, but Anderson’s too. There you can find some day-to-day details of the friends’ quarantine, not unlike those Cavallari shared on Saturday’s Instagram appearance, regarding her three children and the difficulties of homeschooling. But it’s only People that gets into the divorce weeds, if that’s what you consider the real story here—the magazine noted that Cavallari and Cutler will each spend 182.5 days a year with the kids.
