Mumford & Sons Surprise With Hozier, Dessner On SNL – SPIN

Fresh off a top 10 debut for their latest Glassnote album Prizefighter, Mumford & Sons welcomed Hozier, producer Aaron Dessner and vocalist Sierra Ferrell as surprise guests during their performances last night (Feb. 28) on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

The British trio first played “Rubber Band Man” augmented by Dessner on electric guitar before Hozier emerged from side stage to reprise his guest vocal from the song’s studio version. It was the Irish singer/songwriter’s first major appearance since wrapping his Unreal Unearth tour in October 2025.

For their second song of the taping, which was hosted by Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie, Mumford & Sons were joined by both Dessner and Ferrell for “Here.” Its version on Prizefighter is sung by Chris Stapleton, who was coincidentally performing two hours away last night in Uncasville, Ct.

Mumford’s Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane also made a cameo in a sketch about an ill-advised workplace dance, during which they performed a snippet of “Unchained Melody.”

The band warmed up for SNL with a hastily organized secret show Tuesday at the 500-capacity Music Hall of Williamsburg, during which they performed unamplified while backed by a four-piece string section and extra singers. They will begin an extensive world tour April 24 in Melbourne.
