With a string of heartfelt ballads and storytelling tracks under her belt, Shannon K is stepping boldly into 2025 with the release of her dynamic new single, “OTT.” A departure from her previous work, the track is an anthem of liberation, confidence, and unabashed fun, showcasing the young artist’s evolving sound and artistic growth.
“The inspiration behind this song was to create something fun with bold high-energy confident sound along with the lyrics which spoke out to people who feel somewhat closed off in a relationship and feel the need of a bit of freedom, craziness, fun,” Shannon shares.
The single, set to release on January 10th, promises to mark a turning point for Shannon, who has consistently pushed her creative boundaries. Describing the process of crafting “OTT,” she says, “This song was actually super fun to work on. I think to start off the song we did give it some time and thought to it, but once we had found the vibe, we just kicked it off and wrote what we felt through the sound.”
Shannon’s collaboration with Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum record producer Luigie “LUGO” Gonzalez brought a refined polish to the track, while still maintaining its raw energy. Reflecting on the experience, she beams, “It was wonderful to work with Grammy-nominated multi-platinum record producer Luigie LUGO Gonzalez.”
The genre-defying single takes inspiration from icons like Dua Lipa and The Weeknd, fusing vibrant beats with Shannon’s distinct style. “Yes, I’d say Dua Lipa, The Weeknd were some artists that inspired and influenced the genre and sound,” she reveals, giving fans a glimpse into the creative influences behind the track.
“OTT” represents Shannon’s foray into a more experimental, mature sound. “I would say with OTT, I have experimented with a different genre, mood—a bit matured, you can say—and approach to the kinds of songs that I had been making in the past. My previous work focused more on storytelling and emotions within certain boundaries. ‘OTT‘ is an expansion of those ideas, offering a more raw, unfiltered version of my artistic journey.”
Shannon hopes that listeners walk away from the song with a sense of liberation and joy. “I hope the listeners would walk away feeling liberated and such, have a fun experience enjoying the song. Let loose for a while and do you,” she says, emphasizing the empowering message of the track.
While there’s no official music video yet, Shannon teases the possibility of a visual accompaniment. “There may be a music video sometime in future, and I would certainly add all the elements into the video inspired by the audio. I want the visuals to feel immersive, almost like a journey through different emotional landscapes. There will be a lot of abstract and cinematic elements, with vibrant colors, shifting environments, and unexpected transitions. So, I hope that people would enjoy the music video just as much as the song.”
“OTT” is just the beginning of what Shannon describes as an exciting new chapter. “This is just the beginning, and with OTT being the first to start off the new year, I am very excited to see the response and keep working in a similar vibe, giving something special and different to the listeners.”
Although the song has yet to officially drop, Shannon is optimistic about the reception. “The song will be out on Jan 10th, so I hope it’s gonna be all good reviews,” she says with a smile.
Reflecting on how the single has shaped her as both a musician and an individual, Shannon notes, “OTT encouraged me to be more open and honest with myself, and as a result, the music became more real and raw. It reminded me that to evolve, I have to be willing to take risks and step outside my comfort zone, which sometimes means not knowing exactly where things are going until they fall into place. OTT really allowed me to express myself, and I hope to continue to do so through my other projects.”
